Tri-meet

Our tri-meet with SDSC and RRST has been scheduled for this Saturday Feb. 3rd in Penfield. Warm-ups will be at 5:30pm, unless I hear different from SDSC.

We were unable to get our pool for any dates before Championships, so we were forced to move the meet to Penfield. Sorry for the late notice, but we have been scrambling to set something up. We are going to assume that all 12&U swimmers will be there unless you let us know.

Hilton Area Swim Team (HAST)
Hi everyone!
I just want to remind everyone of the use of the Fitness Room on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 - 7:30. It is such a great way for us parents to get to know each other. I know that I am really enjoying meeting new parents on our team. Also, the more parents we have participate, the better chance we have of utilizing this facility next year and maybe even picking up more days. So if you haven't already done so, stop by. I hope to see you there!

Hi Everyone,
I just want to remind everyone that all HAST parents have full use of the fitness room during practice on Tuesday and Thursday. It is a great way for us to get to know each other a little better while getting in shape for the summer. I have really enjoyed meeting everyone who is participating. The more parents we have participate, the better chance we have of utilizing this next year and maybe even adding more days. So next time you drop your swimmer off, check out the fitness room.

Hi All, Thanks to all who came to the parents meeting last night, if you were one of those who could not be there here is what was discussed....
The possibility of paying for the coaches Hotel room when they are at away swim meets and how that would be funded, through dues, swimmers families who attend such meets, many options were discussed and will be brought up at the next board meeting..

Elections for new officers..President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary and Safety coordinator...As of right now these are to be held by parents of swimmers that have been with HAST for at least 1 year.

The need for volunteers for our upcoming meet. Volunteering is going to be required in the future, or a fee will be charged. It is in discussion...

The board will be taking a look at the by laws and coming up with the changes we feel needed to make this a sucessful club..
Thanks Tammy

GTD/Senior JO's Clinic

Hi everyone,

For those senior swimmers going to next weekends Senior JO meet, there is still time to sign up for a clinic being run by Olympians Josh Davis and Randall Ball. The clinic will be held on Saturday
afternoon before the meet starts. You need to go to the Niagara District web site and follow the directions on the main page in order to sign up. You must be attending the meet in order to sign up. Please do so ASAP, the 9-12 year old clinic is already full, but there is still room for the senior swimmers clinic. Any swimmer ,9-12 or senior, who doesn't make it into the clinic can watch from the deck or the stands.

Thank you,

Coach John

14 Under Results and Meet update

Hast swimmers and familes where outstanding.
First and formost, thank you to all the parents that helped with timing, from my point of view it appeared their was 100% participation from all families, nice job. Thank you also for having your swimmers to warm up early or on time and allowing them time to cool down, despite the nasty weather we had. The swimmers where not rushed and made for a smooth transition to get the work done.

HAST swimmers started the meet out with some really big drops, and also finished the meet just as strong Monday night with big drops. Very nice.
Swimmers where outstanding on deck, it appeared they made hard work fun. I am proud of everyone of our swimmers, the hard work they have been putting in at practice was definately worth all the effort. HAST swimmers had so many best times it will be hard to recall them all, without the results in front. So I am going ot list the some highlights..

Monday's 12 under 400 Medley relay swam to a 1st place(Lacourt,Burns,Barber,Spengermen)

Now what, first in store is recover from the long weekend, so in order to do that I need everyone in practice on Tuesday, yes. We have much to fix and work on before NI-Championships in March and also Eastern Zones for the top 2 swimmers in the NI-District.

Senior swimmers are getting ready for their meet in two weeks, our 12 and under swimmers are getting ready for the Go the Distance meet. Yes Distance events, Regarless of the meet we have 2 weeks to fine tune the strokes and build the aerobic base up more. In order for this to happen we need the swimmers at the pool. Swimmers make good choices, see you in practice.
Nice Job, once again. Coach Snow

14 and Under Gold Jo's

Friday - 5:00 PM warm up/6:00 start. -own counters and timers for Distance events.
Saturday - (Prelims)8:00 AM Warm/9:00 Start
-(Finals) 4:00 PM warm/5:00PM Start
Sunday -(Prelims)8:00 AM Warm/9:00 Start - Time Lane 10
-(Finals) 4:00 PM Warm/5:00 PM Start
Monday - (Prelims)8:00 AM warm/9:00 Start - Time Lane 10
- (Finals) 3:00 PM Warm/ 4:00 PM Start
Improve their individual IMX points, each event adds up quickly.
The team points are then added up and ranked amongst other teams.
With a long meet like this it is very important that your swimmer be given the oppurtunity to warm up for the meet but also warm down from the session. So Please allow them time to warm down. If the swimmer chooses to leave. The swimmer could experience muscle cramps, tighting of limbs, sore joints this is Latic Acid buildup. A warmdown or cool down will get rid of any of these symptons. The body will not be able to perfom at its best if you take of it. So eat healthy, swimmers get lost of rest when not at the pool so you have lots of energy.
Have a great meet everyone, hard work pays off,
Coach Snow

Dual Meet #3

Hello everyone,

dual meet #3 is scheduled for January 20th. I was approached by SDSC (dual #3) and RRST (dual #4) and asked if we would like to combine the last two meets into one tri-meet that HAST would host on February 3rd. This seems like it would be a good idea for a couple of reasons. We could free up a Saturday in January and save on pool costs by hosting only one meet, instead of two. What I need to know is if we have any 12@U swimmers who have not participated in at least one of the first two dual meets. Remember that to swim in MCDR Championships in March your swimmer must compete in at least two dual meets. A tri-meet is only considered as one meet. Please let me know as soon as possible if your 12@U swimmer has not competed in either of the first two dual meets.

A quick reminder for those attending this weekends Bronze Meet. This meet is being run in Championship format. This means that the twelve fastest times swam in pre-liminaries for each event come back that evening to swim again in finals. From the time that the pre-lim results are posted for each event you have 30 minutes (to scratch), to let me know that you can't make it back to finals at night. I then go to the scratch table and scratch your swimmer. Only a coach can scratch a swimmer. If we fail to scratch your swimmer and he or she does not come back to finals to swim, you will be fined $25 by the district and your swimmer also cannot compete in the next days events.

Thank you,

Coach John

Hilton Area Swim Team (HAST)

It has been brought to my attention (again) that there are several swimmers that still owe for past dues as well as meets. It is extremely important that those fees are paid NOW. The club is beginning to feel the effects of a tight bank account, with many bills still coming in. We do not have the option to pay a pool bill or a swim meet bill on time ,therefore it is not fair that we have to wait for a dues payment.
We have been fair in giving plenty of time and notice, but it is only forcing us to make changes to our pay schedule for the years to come.
Many of you still owe for caps. When you got a suit you also paid for a cap. Many of swimmers recieved silicone caps at he Pentathlon meet, those caps are $10 each, so far I only have record of 4 people that paid and I believe 14 were handed out. Please pay for those ASAP and note on your check that that is what you are paying for.
It seems as though some of you are confused about the cost for swimming with HAST. If you are a swimmer that swims only for HAST and do not do a school sport, the cost is $350 for the season. If you do a school sport and do not swim while doing that sport it is$250 to swim. A Second family member is also $250. If you do a school sport but swim in the morning it will be the regular fee of $350. ( we are still paying for a coach and pool time for you to swim.) It is not $50 per month to swim, it is either $250 or $350 but to make it easy for you to pay we let you do it in $50 monthly installments...Sept thru March, or November thru March. 5 payments or 7 payments. This is for swimmers that have been with us for the season. New members have been told what they will owe depending on when they join in the season.
You can send payments to HAST, PO box 174, Hilton 14468

Thanks Tammy
