Hilton Area Swim Team (HAST)

* Saturday practice for senior swimmers will be held in Hilton on November 1st and November 22nd from 1:00 - 3:00. These are the only Saturday practices in November due to meets on the others.

* HAST will host a dual meet on Saturday, November 8th at !:00. See Coach Snow to sign up for events.

* Entries for the December STAR meet in Buffalo (12/11-12/14) are due to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org by 11/6/08! Coach Snow has posted an eligibility list in the glass case by the pool. All swimmers eligible to swim should plan to do so. Hotel info can be found in glass case as well. Book your room ASAP.

* Entries for the "Slower than Gold" meet hosted by HAST and Sea Dragons in Hilton 11/15-11/16 are also due to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org by 11/6/08.

* Caps are in. They cost $4.00 each. Unfortunately, due to cost, we were not able to get the silicone ones. If your swimmer prefers silicone they can wear a solid color cap without any logo on it for meets.

* A parent meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5th. Parents of new swimmers will meet at 5:45 in classroom by the pool. All other parents please arrive at 6:15.

* Be sure to check the calendar and website regularly.

All swimmers must complete a Parental Agreement, Parent Code of Conduct, and a Swimmer Code of Conduct. These forms were given out at the first parent meeting. Please complete these forms as soon as possible and place in the LaJuett file.

If your child is a new swimmer please complete your childs registration form and place it in the LaJuett folder. Forms can be found in the team mail box. The corresponding fee of $55 made payable to HAST should be placed in the Avery folder. Swimmers can not swim in a meet until your child has been registered with USA swimming. The registration process takes about one week.

The entries for the Penfield meet on October 26th have been sent. The entry fee report will be posted in the glass case outside of the pool. Please make a check payable to HAST for your child's entries and place the check in the Avery folder.

The first Senior meet is scheduled for 10/25/08 - 12:15 warm up, 1:15 start time. ALL senior swimmers (age 13 and over) should see Coach Snow to discuss events.

The first Dual Meet is set for 11/8/08. Coach Snow will be talking to swimmers about events for that soon.

Mark your calendars!

Our Applebee's Pancake Breakfast is all set for next Sunday (10/19/08). Breakfasts will be served 8:00 - 10:00. All volunteers need to be at Applebee's (Greece location) at 7:30. 250 tickets have been sold! There are still some "outstanding" tickets. If you have not turned in your money or unsold tickets, please contact Cheryl Kame LaCourt by email immediately. cherylkame@excite.com

Barb from The Deep End will be at the pool on Thursday (10/9/08) at 5:00. Anyone who needs to be fitted for a new team suit should plan to be there!

All Applebee's pancake breakfast ticket money is due by Friday. Cheryl LaCourt will be at the pool at 5:30 Friday. Please turn in all money and/or unsold tickets. Remember- if swimmers plan to eat, they need to purchase a ticket also!

Practices on 10/7 and 10/28 have been changed to 6:00- 8:00 due girls modified swim meets.

Entries for the Sea Dragons meet on 10/26 are due by 10/16. Please send all entries to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org. If I do not respond back to you please send an additional email.

Whoops! The date of the "Slower than Gold" meet HAST is co-hosting is Saturday, 11/15 and Sunday, 11/16/08. Sorry for the misprint!

Thank you to all parents who attended the recent meetings. If you were unable to attend here is what you missed...

* 2008/09 Policy Books handed out

* Swimmer Code of Conduct, Parent Code of Conduct, and Parental Agreement with emergency information handed out. All of these forms need to be returned to LaJuett folder ASAP. Forms can be found in front of file chest for anyone who was not present to receive them.

* Dues set at $375 for season (First payment of 50% due 10/01/08, Second payment of 50% due 12/01/08)

* Registration fee ($55 ) for new swimmers due immediately - good through 12/31/09, Returning swimmers registration fee($55) due by 12/01/08.

* Suit fittings will take place on 10/8 for returning swimmers, and 10/9 for new swimmers. The Deep End will be at pool at 5:00 both nights. If you can't make it but know you need a new suit be sure to get your order to Barb Anzalone.

* Reviewed volunteer obligations in policy book - be sure to read new "timing policy".

* Each family must be responsible for fundraising $100. Opportunities lined up so far include Applebee's breakfast, coffee sale, and Swim-a-thon.

* Applebee's Breakfast is planned for 10/19/08, 8:00 - 10:00 at Greece location. Tickets available from Cheryl LaCourt. Each ticket sells for $5 and of that $4 goes to your own fundraising account. Swimmers needed to work at the breakfast. Please sign up with Cheryl. All money and/or unsold tickets due back to Cheryl end of next week.

*HAST is in process of converting to a new website. Should be up and running soon. It will allow parents to directly input swim events for meets. Will train everyone on site as conversion becomes complete.

* Saturday practices are on a trial basis for senior swimmers. We must have good attendance to make these worth the cost of lifeguards, coaches and pool. Try to attend!!

*HAST will be co-hosting (with Sea Dragons) a district "slower than gold" meet in Hilton on November 14th and 15th. All families are expected to help and all swimmers expected to swim and help! More info coming soon!

* Coach Snow is looking into certifying parents to lifegaurd at Brockport morning practices. more info coming soon.

The new swimmer registration forms are in the team mail box. All new swimmers must complete this form along with a check made payable to HAST in the amount of $55. This fee is for USA swimming insurance for your swimmer and will be good until 12/09. Please place the registration form and the check in the LaJuett folder.

Returning swimmers registration is due 12/1/2008. Returning swimmers do not have to complete a registration form. Any questions please see me.
