Hilton Area Swim Team (HAST)

HAST will be having a Lap-a-Thon on Friday, January 30th. This is very similar to the Swim-a-Thon the club has done in the past. It is your last fundraising opportunity of the season. Swimmers wishing to participate should spend the next week gathering sponsors. Sponsors may make a per lap pledge (ex. $.05/lap) or they may pledge a flat rate (ex. $5.00 for swimmers participation). Sponsor pledge forms can be found in family folders at the pool. Coach Snow will have extra forms for the swimmers who use the Brockport pool for morning swim. On Friday, 1/30 /09, swimmers should report to practice at the usual time. Swimmers will have a full 2 hours to swim as many laps as they can! Final number will be reported and then swimmers will go back and collect pledges from their sponsors. 100% of money collected by a swimmer will count toward their fundraising obligation of $100 per season. All pledges must be collected and turned in by Friday, February 6, 2009. The date of the Lap-a-Thon was chosen so that it did not interfere with high school boys' taper for sectionals and so that it did not interfere with training for March Championships. The Lap-a-Thon will be followed by a pizza party in the cafeteria from 7:30 to 8:30 Friday night. Good luck!

We have been assigned 1 timer at Lane 1 for sessions 1 and 3 and 1 Timer at Lane 4 for sessions 2 and 4. All parents that are attending must coordinate with each other so this lane is filled for sessions 1-4. Any questions please see the coach that is attending the meet.

The following changes have been made for the Bronze meet at Spencerport this weekend.

The new session times are as follows.
Session 2 Saturday afternoon now 12:15 wm-up, 1:15 meet start
Session 4 Sunday afternoon now 11:30 wm-up, 12:30 meet start

Please let your families know about the change. There will be a posting on the NI website.

This is the last call for entries for the Go the Distance meet and the Senior Championships. Both meets are the weekend of 1/24. Meet packets can be found on the Niagara site. Anyone wishing to swim in either meet must have entries to Denise dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org by 9:00 pm Wednesday 1/24/09!

Team pictures are Wednesday January 7th and Individual pictures are Thursday January 8th. Remember there is late practice on Thursday the 8th.

On Tuesday, 12/30/08, swimmers are invited to stay after evening practice for a holiday celebration in the cafeteria. Coach Snow will be making pancakes!! HAST will provide pancakes and drinks. Additional treats are welcome. If you have leftover Christmas cookies, our swimmers would be happy to eat them up for you! Last year swimmers participated in a $5.00 gift exchange and really enjoyed it! If you would like to participate again please bring 1 wrapped $5.00 gift to the pancake gathering. Parents should plan to pick swimmers up around 8:30.

Practice today Monday January 22nd has been cancelled due to school being closed.

Anyone who swam at the Webster pentathalon, please review the glass case for the revised fees. The fees were incorrect in our program. Any questions please let me know.

The Niagara Bronze meet at Spencerport High School is January 17 and 18, 2009. Entries are due January 7, 2009. Please enter your swimmer at our new web site. If you have any trouble please email me at dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org. Please remember your child must have bronze times in their events to swim at this meet.

Pictures will be taken on January 7th and 8th. Order forms will be in everyone mail boxes.
