Hilton Area Swim Team (HAST)

There have been time changes for this weekends meet at Webster. The changes are as follows:

Friday Warm-up is at 5:00 p.m., Circle-In by 5:30, Competition starts at 6:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday Prelims Warm-up is at 8:00 a.m., circle in by 8:30, competition starts at 9:00 a.m.
Saturday Finals - Warm-up is at 3:45 p.m., competition starts at 4:45 p.m.
Sunday Finals - Warm-up is at 3:15 p.m., competition starts at 4:15 p.m.

Just a reminder that everyones account with HAST should be paid in full by December 3rd. That includes dues, registration and entry fees. Right now HAST is owed over $700.00 in entry fees. Your swimmers entry fees should be paid when you register them for the meet. So please submit them ASAP. If you are unsure of how much you owe in entry fees, they are posted in the glass case at the pool. Thank You.

Unfortunate I need to inform everyone that we will not have morning swim Thursday and Friday this week.
Also we need to cancel practice Friday night due to swimmers and coach's away at the Silver Meet.

I know many swimmers have been asking for the new swim caps, well the DEEP END store just called and informed me they have arrived. I will have the caps with me tonight at the pool. The swim caps are $4.00, Do not give me cash for the swim cap, I will not accept it.

HAST apparel orders are in. Tammy will be at the pool Monday to distribute them. Also remember coffee orders are due Monday.

The practice times for the Greece meet have been changed for this Saturday. Warm ups for the 10 and unders begin at 8:45- 9:15. Warm ups for 11 and over begin at 9:15 - 9:45. The meet is at the Greece Olympia pool.

*BLOG - it is our only means of communication. Please subscribe to it or check it daily.
*GOLD MEET - January 18 - 21. HAST is cohosting this meet in Webster along with SEAS/WSSC. All families are required to volunteer for 2 positions during the course of the meet. Sign up sheet is available at the pool.
*Caps/Apparel - both expected in very soon.
*Coffee Sales - due 11/26 (no late orders will be accepted)
*Versatile Swimmer/Go the Distance Awards - find forms on Niagara site. Strive to earn these throughout the season.
*Upcoming meets - be sure to check HAST calendar and get entries in by date on that calendar NOT date on meet packet.
*Team pictures are scheduled for 1/30/08 (team & individual), 1/31/08 (individual)
*Coach Snow - TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More), DIMITT (Determination Is More Important Than Talent). Reminded parents to get swimmers to practice as often as possible and be on time to practice and meets!
*Katelynn Barber described a community service project initiated by youth board to benefit Life Solutions of Hamlin. HAST is sponsoring a food drive 11/15 - 12/14. Donations can be placed in box in pool area. Further description of the project can be found at pool.
* Scott Speer talked about the importance of having officials. The process of becoming an official is quite simple. See Scott for further information.
*Fundraising - each family is responsible for $100 of fundraising throughout season. Those who participated in Applebee's breakfast and sold tickets or used buy-out option are already at $40. Those who sell coffee get $.35/bag toward the $100. Other opportunities will come later in season with our swim-a-thon, obtaining ads for meet program etc. For further explanation see fundraising hand-out.
* Bills were distributed. Please check family folder to see if you are up to date with payments. Reminder - USA swim registration and 2nd dues payment are due BY 12/3/07.

Orders for the coffee fundraiser are due no later than Monday, November 26.
Turn in orders in one of the following ways:

MERTON WILLIAMS POOL USERS
1. Put completed Order Summary Sheet in the Schmidt folder at the Merton Williams Pool
2. Put your completed Order Summary Sheet in the brown envelop located in the front of the Mail Box at the Merton Williams Pool.

BROCKPORT POOL USERS:
Turn completed Order Summary Sheet and money in to Kathy Crassi no later than Monday Morning, November 26.

Please, DO NOT turn in the Individual Order Sheets. Turn in ONLY the Order SUMMARY Sheet

PAYMENT is due at the time the orders are turned in:
- All orders are pre-paid
- Money must be turned in with the orders
- A single check, payable to HAST
- If you must pay with cash, please be sure it is:
1) in an envelope with your name and phone number
2) handed to someone, NOT left in the coffee envelope
3) counted and verified before you walk away

The Webster Pentathlon is Sunday December 9th. Entries are due Thursday November 29th. Please email entries dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org.

The Rush Henrietta Little Distance/Big Sprints meet is Sunday December 16th. Entries are due Tuesday December 4th. Please email entries to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org.

The practice schedule for next week is as follows: there will be practice Monday 11/19, Tuesday 11/20, and Wednesday 11/21.

The STAR Swimming Short Course Invitational is 12/6-12/9 2007 at Erie Community College. HAST has 12 swimmers eligible to swim at it. Meet packets will be available at the parent meeting. This meet fills up quickly and we need to register our swimmers ASAP. Coach Snow can tell you if you are qualified to swim. We need a firm committment. Please look over the packet on the Niagara site prior to the parent meeting and be ready to tell Coach Snow by Friday whether or not you would like to go.

There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting at 6:30 on Thursday, November 15th.

Information about our November coffee sale is being placed in family folders at the Hilton pool tonight. Michele Schmidt has coordinated this for our club this year. Thank you, Michele! We made over $500 profit last year. The coffee is DELICIOUS and it sells for only $1.00 a bag (which makes a whole pot of coffee). Please be sure to pick up your information packet. More info to follow.

The second senior meet is saturday November 10th. Warm ups are at 12:30 and the meet starts at 1:15. This meet will be held at PACK High School. All entries must be emailed to Coach Snow at darwinsnow@gmail.com. Sorry for the short notice. but these entries are due November 7th. The subject line of your email must read #2 Senior meet entries and the swimmers name.

Also, remember the pancake breakfast at Applebees in Henrietta that morning from 8:00 - 10:00.

Our Pancake Breakfast at Applebee's is less than a week away. About half the tickets given out have not been paid for or turned back in yet. Cheryl Kame will be at the pool again on Tuesday to collect the rest. PLEASE try to be there to turn in what you have. Remember -we need 100% participation in all of our fundraisers. Those not participating will be billed the $40 buy-out fee. Swimmers and other volunteers should arrive at Applebees at 7:30 Saturday morning. If you have HAST clothing please wear it or wear our team colors (red and black). Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE!

The Greece Invitational is Saturday November 24th at Greece Olympia High School. Entries for this meet are due November 9th. Please send entries to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org.

The IMX Silver meet is November 30 - December 2 at Webster Aquatic Center. Entries for this meet are due November 19th. Your swimmer must have a silver time in any event they swim in this meet. For every silver time your swimmer has they may swim a bonus event that they do not have a silver time in. The bonus event MUST be a distance or IMX event. Please send these entries to dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org.

There will be no practice Monday November 5th. Please refer to the calendar on the web site and the new calendar in the hallway outside of the pool.

HAST must have two timers for sessions 1 and 3 at lane 2 this weekend. Session 1 will be from approx 9:00-12:30 on Saturday and Session 3 will be from approx 9:00-1:00 on Sunday. Please see Denise or Paul to sign up for a time. We need to have a schedule in place.
