We still need more timers though: 3 needed for session 3, 4 needed for session 4, and 6 needed for session 6 Take a look at what you signed up for , or if you have yet to sign up, and email me or call if you find you can fill any of these positions. Banquet
Hi All,
The banquet is right around the corner….
A big, fun part of our banquet will be a Chinese raffle. This raffle is part fundraiser, huge fun, and a nice way to help defray the cost of the banquet.
Here’s how it works:
Each family from Hast will donate at least one item to be raffled off.
Each item will be at the banquet with a container in front of it.
Everyone that wants to participate buys raffle tickets by arms length or less, then they go around and put their raffle tickets in the containers by the items them wish to win.
At a designated time, the tickets will be drawn.
Kids and Adults enjoy this very much.
Suggestions for donated items for the Chinese Raffle:
Child and/or family items…. New items only please.
Gift certificates, such as car washes, ice cream, coffee, theater…
Small toys, kitchen gadgets, candles, hand made items, beanie babies, I donate things from my store such as caps, towels, bungees, anything “swim stuff”
Please bring your donated items directly to the banquet and give to me to set out.
As a bonus, there will also be a live auction, for some larger items. Example from the past, turkey fryers, hand made blanket, larger gift certificates, even a home made pie from Coach Snow.
If anyone wants to donate to this, talk to me…..
Please call me with any questions you may have. I can help with ideas also….

April Fool's Meet Concessions
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! to everyone who signed up to bring in a donation for the April Fool's meet concessions!
If you haven't signed up it's not too late - please help us cut down on our expenses!
Got your donation already?
*For those who swim at Merton Williams pool, I'll have the box outside the pool on Monday and Tuesday night before, during , and after practice.
*For those who swim at Brockport pool, contact Lisa Campbell or look for a communication/posting from her. She is coordinating the donations and collection for that site.
It's very important that you turn your donations in by Tuesday night (Except for the bags of ice. Bring them when you come to the meet please.)
Why? Because I'll be doing an inventory and then working with Steve Hickey to identify the quantities we need to purchase based on entries for the meet. Also, I'm going to set up on Friday night and I'll need to have everything there.
Thanks so much!
Michele

April Fools Fun meet
Our April Fools meet is just around the corner. Please email entries to me at dlajuett@hiltonswimteam.org by Thursday March 22nd. We are hoping our swimmers will be attending the meet both days. It is a great weekend for the swimmers to bond as a team and enjoy a meet at our pool. We are still in need of volunteers at the meet. If you have not volunteered on our board please do so asap. We can not make this meet run successfully without our volunteers. Any questions please let me know.

Thursday night the swimmers did great. The team is off to a great start. One of the teams many goals this weekend is to score 1250 points. The swimmers collectively got 82 in the distance events. So keep watching to see how your team is doing. They have 1168 to go and will have to average 390 points a day from hear on out.
Friday will be when the rest of the swimmers come to town. We have 25 swimmers at the meet, with 19 relays. Parents are expected to help out timing or selling programs for the meet. This meet is a District run meet so that means everyone must chip in and help.
I will be posting results each day to keep everyone informed.

Parent Meeting Notes
* Elections - We had some people step up to the plate and agree to run for a board position. (Some took a bit of encouragement!) Paul Wilson has agreed to run for President, Katie Dorschel for Vice President, Janet Avery for Treasurer, Kim Burns for Secretary, Steve Hickey for Safety Coordinator. It was also brought up that another position should be created for Meet Entrant. Denise LaJuett has been doing this very time consuming job and has agreed to continue next year. Although all candidates are running "unopposed", by-laws dictate that there needs to be a vote. It was suggested that this be done the weekend of our meet (3/31 and 4/1/07). Denise is also looking into whether this could possibly be done on the website. More info to follow.
* Meet Update - There are still open volunteer positions on the job board. PLEASE sign up! Board is located in equiptment room near file chest.
* Banquet - Steve Hickey is chairing this committee. We are looking at a weekend date in April after the Easter vacation. This will be picnic style. This is a family event - all are invited! We will barbeque and ask each family to bring a dish to pass. It will allow time for kids to play and a time for families to get to know one another better. The idea of a silent auction was suggested. The SPUR team had done these in the past and they have been a blast! More info to follow.
* Pictures - Team pictures will be taken the week of March 20th. Denise is firming up date with photographer. Picture packages and price lists were distributed at meeting. These can be found in file behind family folders if you were not at meeting to get one. Several parents are familiar with photographer and his work. He comes highly recommended!
*Surveys - The board distributed surveys for parents to provide feedback. We are always looking to improve ALL aspects of our club. Please take the time to fill these out and return them to the Engle file. Again, they will be located in file behind family folders in file chest if you weren't at meeting to get one.
* Applications - Remember you can find applications for the Versatile Swimmer Award and Go the Distance Awards on the Niagara website. Many of our swimmers qualify, all you have to do is fill out the forms and get them signed by one of our coaches!
* Swim-a-thon - We had a GREAT turn-out despite the weather! We have already had over $800 turned in. Be sure to turn in your envelope and pledge money BY Mon., 3/12.
* Dues - Final dues were to have been paid by March 1st. The club still has approximately $2000 in outstanding payments. If you have any questions about what you owe, see Janet Avery or send her an email.
* Spring/Summer Swim Sessions - A survey will be placed in each file next week for families to declare their intent about Spring and Summer swim sessions. We will need to have a firm committment and payment upfront to be able to offer these. The board is currently working to be able to provide you with numbers, dates, and prices for these sessions.
* Charity - We will be donating 5% of the Swim-A-Thon profit to a charity. 3 charities were suggested. On the back of your Spring/Summer Swim Session Survey will be a place for you to vote for the charity you'd like to see HAST benefit. Choices are 1) Golisano Children's Hospital 2) Ronald McDonald House 3) Special Olympics.

Championships!!!!!!
Hi Team,
Championships was a HUGE success for all of our Hilton team members.
I would first like to thank our officials and parent volunteers who worked at the meet this weekend. With out you a meet like this would not be possible, so thank you.
There were so many swimmers that made it back to finals to place in the top 16, that it would be nearly impossible for me to list them all here. Coach Snow and I ran our high lighters nearly dry when we were marking our finals programs. So what I will do is list all of our top three places for each event here. When the results are posted to the web site I will hang them up at the pool so you can see how well all of the swimmers did.
First let me start with the new records. There were four McDonalds league records broken this weekend by HAST swimmers, and two more that almost fell.
Mary Spengeman 1st place 10@U girls 50free 28.54 ( a 26 yr. old record)
Morgan Burns 1st place 11-12 girls 100 breast 1:11.64 (a 16 yr. old record)
Morgan Burns 1st place 11-12 girls 200 I.M. 2:20.34 (a 14 yr. old record)
Victoria Brannan 1st place 15&O women 100 back 1:01.01 ( a 7 yr. old record)
The two records that were just missed were:
Women 15&O 400 free relay 1st place 3:47.70 (missed by 1.07 seconds)
Tessa Snow, Kelley Anzalone, Ellie Price, Whitney Hickey
Jami Barber girls 11-12 200 free 1st place 2:05.62 (missed by .12 seconds)
The rest of our top three finishers are as follows:
women 12&U 200 free relay 1st place 1:54.15

2:20.34 (a 14 yr. old record)

Swim a thon
The coaches are asking that all swimmers wear their team suits to the swim a thon on Monday. We have many trophies and ribbons to hand out from championships and the coaches would like to hand them out and take pictures on Monday. Hope to see everyone on Monday. Remember there will be a pizza party for the swimmers from 7:30 to 8:30. Any questions please let us know.
